My wife's blog has a counter on it, but it was counting whenever she edited a page so she had it up to 50 all by herself in one day. So then she fixed it so it wouldn't count when she was working on her blog and reset it to 0 or something. I said I would have left it. That way it at least looks like lots of people are reading your blog and then you feel more important, even its just you revisiting your own page every five minutes.
I was originally resistant to blogs because they become so popular so quickly that it seemed one day I'd never heard the word and the next it was permanently embedded in our vocabulary. It even came with its own verb; everybody was 'blogging' about something. I despised the idea initially because I kept hearing it bandied about so much. But I finally broke down. It was my wife's fault. She encourages me to be sociable.
